Builder's Risk

From coast to coast, properties are at risk of a loss while under construction or renovation. Whether the insured is building a new home from the ground up or renovating an existing structure, Orchid provides a solution through Accredited Specialty to protect their property against losses.    Available in AL, CT, DE, FL, LA, MA, MS, NC, NJ, NY, RI, SC, TX, and VA
•    TIV up to $5 million
•    Target Risks: 
       o    Renovations (structural and non-structural)
       o    Additions
•    Builder’s Risk Endorsements include but are not limited to: 
       o    Builder’s Risk Theft
       o    Limit of Liability Provisional Amount 
       o    Wind Hail Deductible
•    X-Wind Builder’s Risk available

If your client’s current risk qualifies for the HO3 program with Accredited Specialty, they are eligible to qualify for the Builder’s Risk program! Please note, rating is similar to the HO3 rating, but there is an additional surcharge for Builder’s Risk coverage.

Action is Required for Direct Bill and Agency Billed Email

You may have received a Direct Bill or Agency Billed email recently. Please note that your action is required on the attached proposal within the email. We ask that you:
 

  • Review the file, in its entirety, for accuracy.

    • If state compliance forms are required for issuance, they are included in this file. State compliance forms, if included, are due by the renewal effective date. The policy will be subject to cancellation or nonrenewal if you do not remit these completed forms to Orchid.

      • On or before the effective date: Attach forms to the policy within Connect/Policy Plus.

      • After the effective date: Email the forms to forms@orchidinsurance.com

  • If this is a Direct Bill, Orchid will invoice your insured (or the escrow account) directly.

  • If this is an Agency Bill, you must remit premium to Orchid, less your commission.

As a reminder, all change requests must be submitted to Orchid, and some changes are subject to carrier approval. For more information, please refer to your Direct Bill or Agency Billed email. 

New Business UW Referrals

We are currently experiencing a high submission volume for new business referrals. As we work to take care of the outstanding referrals, our normal same-day turnaround has changed to an estimated 4-5 business days. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you. Please take note of the following:

  • If the effective date for a referral has passed, it will be declined to work through the queue volume faster as we are unable to backdate new business policies.

    • If you still need terms for this risk, please copy the submission and update it to the correct effective date and resubmit the referral.

  • Future effective date referrals will be prioritized by the effective date.

Agent Servicing Portal Training

  • Create and submit policy service requests and check the status of service cases

  • Live Chat with a service representative

  • Update your agency profile information and manage user logins

  • View important underwriting bulletins, announcements, and moratoriums

  • Access frequently asked questions and locate your designated Orchid Agency Development Manager
